Seeing Stars delivers enough to satisfy It’s time for the N*E*R*D* biannual treat. The Neptunes (Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo) and buddy Shay Haley come together for a few hits and catchy beats in their hit-and-miss album, Seeing Sounds.
When the trio of Shay Haley, Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo -- better known as N.E.R.D. -- completed touring behind their album Fly Or Die, the rap-rock band was happy but thought the record was too "consistent," not truly encapsulating the diversity, energy and drive found in its live performances.
The Who: As Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, collectively known as The Neptunes, grew in stature, the duo needed an outlet to express their creativity beyond their hip-hop and pop production. Thus, the eccentric, alternative rock/pop band, N.E.R.D, was born.

Seeing Sounds is the third album from N.E.R.D., the "artist" project from Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo of production team the Neptunes and their buddy Shay Haley. It's the musical equivalent of an ad campaign trying to appeal to the sorta-grown-and-totally-sexy Red Bull and BlackBerry generation.
